Why Robinhood Is a Company That's Shaping the Future

The last few years have witnessed a period that has radically changed the role of individual investors in the stock market. The most powerful name leading this change is undoubtedly Robinhood. Robinhood: “The Next Generation Morgan Stanley”?

As Tom Lee emphasized in his recent interview with Amitis Investing, Robinhood’s position today is almost the same as what E-Trade and Charles Schwab meant to the baby boomer generation in the 80s and 90s. At that time, the concept of “brokerage firm” was in the hands of a few big-headed players, transaction costs were high and access was limited. At that time, baby boomers were in their 20s. Charles Schwab was just a magazine that published a newsletter. Then he said, “Let me be a brokerage firm.” The brokerage firms of the baby boomers became E-Trade and Schwab. E-Trade and Schwab offered freedom, speed and low costs to the young investors of that period. Today, Robinhood represents the same thing.

Today, $HOOD offers investors low-cost (and often free) trading opportunities, while redefining the perception of “investment” on a mass scale with its user-friendly interface. Its rapid integration with new generation products such as crypto provides a dynamism that challenges traditional finance. Especially for young generation investors, HOOD offers a practicality and transparency that classic banks and brokerage houses cannot provide.

Transforming the Ecosystem: Innovative Infrastructure, Access and Liquidity

The “democratization” that Robinhood provided to individual investors has ignited the fuse of many innovations that have become industry standards today, such as commission-free transactions, T+1 clearing, 24/5 trading access, and even forced traditional brokerage houses to offer these services. In the past, the reason why the effects of many crises on the stock market (for example, the collapses experienced during the T+5 clearing period in 1987) could not be reduced was due to lack of access and speed. Now, both speed and liquidity have become stronger than ever in favor of individual investors.

This is not only a technical change, but also a revolution in investor psychology. Because now the doors of the market are wide open to young investors with small capital.

Small Investors Are Now Smarter and More Practical in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

There is another dimension to the work here: Large language models (LLMs) and AI-supported trading. Artificial intelligence now offers even an ordinary individual investor the opportunity to act like a “quant”. LLMs, which can instantly process hundreds of pages of balance sheets, earnings announcements and macro data, create a great advantage, especially in volatile environments that require fast decisions and transactions.

For example, I have such artificial intelligence agents that I have created myself. I can instantly analyze pages of balance sheets and learn important points immediately. Similarly, I have written artificial intelligence agents that analyze whether a company is a good investment with different methods and I actively use them. In other words, artificial intelligence makes my job incredibly easy as a small investor.

Of course, in this environment where access to information is incredibly easy, individual investors act with more self-confidence. In the future, it will not be surprising for small but highly efficient mini funds to become widespread.

What Will Happen Next? Risks and Opportunities

Robinhood has two main paths ahead of it: Either it will be sold to a major financial giant like JP Morgan and integrated with them, becoming the digital extension of classic banking; or it will become a global financial giant on its own, just like Morgan Stanley did in the 90s (which I think is more likely). However, regulatory risks, a sustainable revenue model and an intensely competitive environment are the main problems awaiting HOOD. Nevertheless, the advantage of being the “first financial experience” of today’s young investors sets Robinhood apart from others. If it can maintain its momentum in product development, innovation and customer loyalty, HOOD can be the investor platform not only of today but also of the next decade.

As a result, Robinhood is not just a brokerage firm; it is a symbol of the democratization of financial markets, technological transformation and the change of investor psychology. In other words, it is a company that is changing the future! Today’s HOOD is like the E-Trade, Schwab or Morgan Stanley of the past; but faster, more transparent, and more accessible. The future will reward human intuition combined with technological tools. And $HOOD is poised to remain at the center of this trend.
