A warning system on the evolution of the covid-19 pandemic will be introduced in the United Kingdom, the British minister of Communities announced this Sunday, just hours before Prime Minister Boris Johnson declared a predicted beginning of deflation.
Although the authorities repeated for weeks to the British to "stay home", the message will now be "remain vigilant", while the country mourns more than 31,000 deaths associated with the covid-19 pandemic.
An alert system, of the model that exists for the terrorist threat, will be created to inform the British about the level of the danger level of the pandemic.
"At the moment, we think the country is at level four on a scale of five, with level five being the most worrying, and we want to reduce it as soon as possible to three," said the minister. "And at each step, we will be able to open and restart more sectors of the economy and aspects of our lives," he said.
The minister explained that a biosafety center will compile the data and monitor progress against the virus, which will determine the Government's response. Specific measures may be adopted in certain parts of the country, depending on the evolution of the pandemic.
Boris Johnson is due to reveal at 18:00 his strategy to soften the confinement, enacted on March 23, but intends to act with "maximum caution".
The Government also plans to force travelers arriving in the UK to comply with a 14-day quarantine period, which concerns the aviation sector, which has already been largely destabilized due to the pandemic.
The measures that Boris Johnson will announce this Sunday relate only to England, as each of the four nations that make up the United Kingdom will independently determine its containment plan.
Jenrick said, however, that a common approach was "the government's strong preference".
Wales announced a modest easing of the containment system on Friday. Welshmen can go out and exercise more than once a day, without moving too far from their homes. Garden shops will be able to reopen, and soon libraries too.
