JPEGMAFIA x Flume "We Live In a Society" review

Peggy and released a new experimental EP today and it we really get to see JPEG trying out a new sound even more than he usually does. I found it kind of difficult to rate because it is just so different from the anything else.

Track by track review

In track 1 we start off with little dialogs with Flume and then some rhythmic distorted sounds. Peggy raps a bit and then we here more dialog and this repeats. It shows off Flumes sound design skills really well and i enjoyed it but i definitely wouldn't want to listen all the way though it again. As an experiment I would give it a 9.5/10, and as a song I would give it a 6/10.

Track 2 (is it real) is a gearstick change to a beautiful sound scape of vocals from Ravyn Lenae and layered color synths. I really liked this track solid 7.5/10.

Track 3 (AI Girlfriend) Really uncomfortable to listen to but the production is great. I would give it a 2/10 because it's pretty much unlistenable.

Track 4 (The Ocean Is Fake) really good track production wise. Super cool vocal effects and arrangement. I would give it a 7.3/10.

Summery/Overall ratings

I really liked this project as an EP but it definitely is not the quality I would expect from these two. As a experiment I would give it a 8/10, and as a project to just listen to I would give it  6/10. I really liked the influence of EDM and the production had a lot of cool ideas but I also heard a grown ass man singing about his ai girlfriend. I think this is a better performance from Flume than Peggy, Especially after his last album I would expect better from him.
