Good morning my friends and happy new year, a classic cake that we cook at first day of year in Greece. My best wishes

Let’s create this together step by step

Ingredients

300 gr. butter at room temperature

250 gr. powdered sugar

1 tbsp. crystal Sugar

7 gr. mahalepi

2 gr. gum

1/2 tbsp. nutmeg

2 tbsp. flour g.o.x.

zest of 1-2 oranges

2 vanillas or 2 tbsp. vanilla extract

4 eggs (200 g) room temperature

75 ml milk 3.5% fat

400 gr. flour g.o.x.

1 full tbsp. baking powder

powdered sugar for serving

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 180 ° C in air.

Pour the butter, the icing in the bowl of the mixer and beat with the whisk very well until the butter is fluffy, 2-3 minutes. Then stop beating, clean the side walls with a spatula or spatula, continue beating for another 5 minutes and set aside.

In a small blender-multi, add the sugar, the machete, the mastic, the nutmeg, 2 tbsp. from our flour and beat very well. (If we use vanillins, and not an extract, we add them to the multi).

When our mixture becomes powder, add it to the bucket of the mixer.

Add the orange zest, the vanilla extract and beat in the bucket on low speed. We throw the eggs one by one. Once one is absorbed, we throw the next. Take the bucket out of the mixer and pour in the bucket and the milk, stirring a little with a fork.

In a bowl, mix the 400 gr. flour with the baking powder and add them to the bucket while mixing lightly with a fork. Butter a well-rounded cake pan with a removable base, 25 cm in diameter. Pour the mixture for our king pie there and spread well with a spatula.

Bake in the oven for 45 minutes, on the high grill.

Before baking, do not forget to put the coin!

Once it is ready, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve!

Stay safe and healthy my friends and take care of your people

My best wishes from Greece
