Foodbook #605 orzo with tomato and basil


Good morning my friends , a very nice food for today , easy fast and delicious, let’s do it together


1 cup barley
1 onion small peeled and cut into 4
1 peeled carrot cut into thick slices
1 tomato cut into 4
3 tablespoons soup extra virgin olive oil
1 cup of white or rosé wine
Salt Pepper
1 sprig of fresh chopped basil (leaves only)
Hot water

for serving

grated cheese (optional)
tops of basil



Prepare all the vegetables as described in the recipe and mash them in the multi. Put them in a pan and sauté for 2 minutes. Add the barley and continue sautéing for a while longer.
Season with salt and pepper and quench with wine. Stir lightly and when the alcohol has evaporated, add 2 cups of water after the first strong boil, lower the heat and boil until it softens enough and the barley is cooked. Add more water if necessary.
Remove the food from the heat when the barley is ready and the food still has enough water. Cover and let it absorb.
Serve by adding a little grated cheese and basil on top.
