For as long as I can remember, I’ve carried a quiet but persistent dream: to travel around the world. Not just as a tourist hopping from one airport to another, but as a traveler who takes the long road, soaking in the landscapes, cultures, and unexpected moments along the way.
Alongside this dream, another passion has always tugged at me—RV life. I’ve been fascinated by motorhomes for years, imagining the freedom of carrying my home wherever the road leads. In my spare time, I often find myself lost in YouTube rabbit holes, watching endless videos about RVs—whether it’s someone reviewing a brand‑new model, showing off a second‑hand bargain, or customizing their rig in a local workshop. I’ve even toyed with the idea of building one myself. The thought of a DIY motorhome excites me, but I’ll admit: I don’t yet have all the expertise to pull it off.
Recently, these two passions—traveling the world and living in a motorhome—finally collided into a plan. I’ve decided to embark on a journey from the United Kingdom back to Malaysia, my home. Why this route? The answer is simple: I found my dream rig, and it’s built in the UK. Importing it directly to Malaysia would cost a fortune, almost as much as funding a long overland journey. So I thought, why not flip the equation? Instead of paying to ship the motorhome, I could buy it in the UK and drive it back home, turning the cost into an adventure of a lifetime.
This isn’t just about saving money—it’s about embracing the journey itself. Traveling across continents with my wife by my side, discovering new places, and living out of the motorhome I’ve always wanted feels like the perfect way to bring my dream to life. Of course, it’s not as simple as buying the rig and hitting the road. There’s a mountain of planning, preparation, and learning ahead before the first kilometer is even driven.
But that’s the beauty of it. Every great journey begins long before the wheels start turning. And this is where mine begins.
