Introduction

For the past couple of months, I have been writing about crypto topics and after a while started focusing on play-to-earn games.

The games I spend the most time on are Gods Unchained, a trading card game, and Sorare, a fantasy football game.

In this article, I am going to introduce you to one of the earliest stage projects I am currently looking into: The mafia-themed Dogefellas.

Dogefellas

“Dogefellas is a crypto ecosystem, with a focus on play-to-earn and in-game social interaction, that will allow capitalism to run free. It’s an opportunity for enterprising individuals to determine their own fate. It’s an ecosystem where we get to develop ideas that are fun, exciting, and novel.” -Dogefellas Whitepaper

The ultimate goal of the Dogefellas team is to create a PvP game called “Mafia Wars” similar to Among Us, base it in a mob-inspired world, and introduce play to earn mechanics.

As an intermediate step, Dogefellas will publish the game “Shakedown” in which you´ll be able to use your mobster NFTs to squeeze businesses for protection money to earn $MOB tokens.

By setting up the roadmap this way, players who get in at an early stage can get a headstart on everyone who waits for the big Mafia Wars launch and gives early utility to your mobster NFTs.

While Mafia Wars is not playable, yet, there is already a pretty detailed description of the game in their whitepaper (page 13).

The games will run on the WAX blockchain, which already has a well-established P2E ecosystem and marketplace. (note: this has been a very recent decision and some parts of their website still mention BSC)

I have been in touch with the Dogefellas team via their Discord and encourage everyone interested in this project to join them as well. It is still a small community (~100 people at the time of writing) so you can get to know the team and ask questions that are relevant to you.

Currently, the Dogefellas team plan to mint their first set of NFTs mid-February so keep an eye on their Discord and their Twitter to get a piece of the action.

I am looking forward a lot to the launch of Shakedown and will certainly try to get a few of their NFTs. Aside from the in-game utility, I am in love with their graphics ;)
