In this article, I´ll talk about how I have received thousands of dollars in airdrops. I am already planning a follow-up article about future airdrops I am looking forward to, and how you might be able to get some of this free money as well. So stay tuned if you like this article!
When I started investing in cryptocurrencies, I had no idea what an airdrop was. Now, about a year later, airdrops are among the main sources of profit for me. Especially the Cosmos ecosystem provides an amazing opportunity for collecting airdrops by staking $ATOM, at the moment.
The airdrops I am describing below are merely the largest ones I have received recently. On top of this, I have earned a few hundred dollars split up over various other airdrops as well.
My past airdrops
Immutable X (5000$)
As I spend a lot of time with play-to-earn games, I was lucky enough to get a decent chunk of the $IMX airdrop in November 2021.
Around the time of the airdrop, $IMX was worth around 4$ so this airdrop was worth over 5000$ to me.
This airdrop rewarded players of Immutable X´s flagship game Gods Unchained and has made Gods Unchained by far the most profitable play-to-earn game to date.
As you can read in some of my earlier articles on the game, I am playing Gods Unchained as a free-to-play game and have not invested anything (apart from my time ;) ) into the game.
The crazy thing is: The IMX airdrop is not the only airdrop I received thanks to Gods Unchained!
Gods Unchained (2500$)
On top of the airdrop by the platform Immutable X, there also was an airdrop of Gods Unchained´s $GODS token around the same time.
I have received a total of 639.73 $GODS, again, purely for playing a fun game that I can recommend to everyone. If you like trading card games, check out Gods Unchained via my referral link and earn some $GODS, too.
First tranche of the $GODS airdrop
$GODS has traded consistently above 4$ throughout 2021 but has recently taken a downturn together with most of the crypto market. The airdrop was paid out in tranches but I´ll still use 4$ as an average to value this airdrop.
This means the $GODS airdrop was worth more than 2500$ to me.
So, in total, I have received more than 7500$ for playing a game I still like and have happily played for months without getting paid for it.
This shows how important it is to find play-to-earn games you really enjoy instead of chasing some immediate payouts. My goal is to provide you with some ideas for this and I try to feature interesting projects I am looking into every once in a while.
Stargaze (1200$)
The Stargaze airdrop in January has been my first significant airdrop for staking $ATOM.
I have received 2453.58 $STARS for, at the time, staking 5 $ATOM.
$STARS have traded around 0.50$ when the airdrop started, lost quite a bit from people selling their airdrop stake but then swiftly recovered and now sits comfortably just under 0.80$. I´ll use the 0.50$ to value this airdrop for the sake of this article, meaning the airdrop was worth more than 1200$ for me.
This is a lot more than I have paid for the 5 $ATOM that made me eligible for this airdrop.
As I mentioned in the intro, the Cosmos ecosystem (to which Stargaze belongs) is full of airdrops for, among others, $ATOM stakers but also for liquidity providers on Osmosis and stakers of other coins from the ecosystem.
If you want to hunt for airdrops in 2022, the Cosmos ecosystem is the place to be! Staking $ATOM, $OSMO, and $JUNO as well as providing liquidity on Osmosis and Junoswap all might help get a larger share of the airdrop pie.
