Two Bottled Leaves for Pianoforte: I. Mottetto elegiaco [Philip Daniel; 2016]

By PhilipDaniel | Musica Melopoetica | 24 Oct 2020

The first of my "Bottled Leaves" for Pianoforte, composed in 2016. Though arguably somewhat naïve, this work's harmonic language, voice-leading / contrapuntal procedures, motivic economy, and approach to developmental variation presage my later work. Note the almost madrigal-esque qualities (hence the name of the piece).
