Idiosynkratische Tonstücke für die Orgel: I. Luftspiegelungen [Philip Daniel; 2020]

By PhilipDaniel | Musica Melopoetica | 14 Feb 2021

First in a series of "Idiosyncratic Tone-Pieces" for concert organ (the instrument ideally of the "French Symphonic" variety). The title is German for "mirages" or "Fata Morgana", and the work is a piquant tone poem in the guise of a contrapuntal waltz. Note the "extended" harmony and approach to tonality, influenced by post-impressionist / modernist French organ music. The painting in the video is "Moonlit Night Marsh" by Aleksey Savrasov.
