Who Cares If Gold Just Hit $4,000!

By SweptOverNiagara | Morning JAVA | 8 Oct 2025

December gold futures went above $4,000 for the first time on Monday. Just after 10 pm last night, spot prices caught up and also surpassed $4,000. We are witnessing an historic event but don't worry about it. There's nothing to see of importance here. Everyone else is ignoring it, right?

Except central banks...

World Gold Council: Central banks big gold buyers again in August.

China's central bank buys gold for 11th straight month.

For the first time since 1996, central banks hold more gold as reserves than U.S. Treasuries but again, there's nothing to worry about. Look the other way. This 'barbarous pet rock' climbing to $4,000 is just a blip. Soon enough, it'll be at $5,000 so it's just numbers on a screen, right?

The dollar has lost 11 points on the USD Index since peaking in January.. Gold is now up more than 54% YTD! Still, don't panic. It's just the purchasing power of your currency note dropping like a lead zeppelin over Dearborn.

Gold has been king for $5,000 years but again, completely ignore that fact. 'This time, it's different', many will say.

Damn right it is!

Tread carefully. Things are going... critical...
