If you spend any time reading modern cultural commentary, you will eventually run into a core premise of postmodern philosophy: There is no such thing as objective truth. Truth is just a social construct. It sounds incredibly edgy and sophisticated. It feels like the ultimate form of open-mindedness.

But if you stop and think about it for just a few seconds, the entire philosophy instantly collapses into a logical loop. Is it objectively true that there is no objective truth?

If it is true, then objective truths do exist, which means the entire postmodern philosophy is wrong.

If it is false, then why should anyone take the postmodern philosophy seriously? There's no foundation for it.

The postmodernist might try to dodge the trap by saying, "Okay, it's not a universal truth, it's just my personal perspective". But if it’s just their subjective opinion, then it has the exact same intellectual weight as saying, "My favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip". It completely defeats itself. The rest of us have absolutely no logical reason to take it seriously as a description of reality.

Let's not use postmodern thinking when engaging with the world around us. It's a dead end. Don't do postmodernism.
