Part 1: The Cult of Scientism and the Advertisers

A HISTORY OF VACCINE SCIENCE AND THE LANGUAGE USED TO DESCRIBE IT 

Part One: The Cult of Scientism and the Advertisers

 

Before we can proceed with the intended purpose of this examination of the history of the science of vaccination and the language used to describe it, some basic facts about beliefs must be explained and the current media landscape accurately described.

Bear with me, please, this is going to be a bit of a rant. Busting myths is not a simple task, especially myths so persistent and widely believed as those surrounding the science of vaccination.

If you reflexively trust the corporate media to tell you the truth about everything at all times, this may be difficult for you to accept. 

If you are one of those people who "believe in Science" and say that the motto of the USA as printed on our money should be modified to read "In Science We Trust", then you are likely to have difficulty accepting the factual statements I am about to make. 

This is for those who are capable of independent thought and have the courage to move in the opposite direction of the herd when the facts lead them to a contrary conclusion. 

This is for those who are capable of changing their opinions when confronted with new information. 

This is for those of you who are not devout members of the cult of Scientism.

"Scientism? You sound crazy! Science isn't a religion, it's just... Science!"

Science is a process of discovery, for finding out what is valid fact through asking questions and formulating a hypothesis able to withstand scrutiny of repeatable experimentation which produces the same verifiable results each time. 

However, there has been a cult of belief built up around the process of science and those who are presented to us by the corporate media as being scientists and scientific experts. 

Science in the popular consciousness has become a set of beliefs to memorize and regurgitate on command, laws which may not be questioned. Celebrity scientists have been set up as a priesthood delivering the received wisdom to the mass of believers.

People who don't understand the difference between a hypothesis, a theory, and an accepted law of science are fond of saying that they BELIEVE in Science, they TRUST the experts, and they have FAITH in Science. That is the language of religion, not science. 

We don't have faith in science, we endlessly doubt and question. 

In the parlance of the crypto community, science is all about the FUD. 

We don't trust in science, we doubt and question and repeat the experiment again and again to verify the results. 

We don't trust in science, we verify.

However, the corporate media has encouraged cult-like behavior regarding their presentation of a narrative of what we are expected to believe about science and the history of vaccination in particular. 

In the most simple terms, their narrative is "everyone was condemned to die in endless outbreaks of deadly diseases, but then some genius scientists made vaccines, and now everyone can be healthy, if they just accept their salvation and be baptized in a series of injections of these magic potions."

Yes, I called vaccines magic potions. As Arthur C. Clarke famously said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indestinguishable from magic." 

For the average person this holds true in regards to vaccines. They have no idea what is in the syringe, nor do they understand the workings or components of the human immune system. If you read to them directly from the vaccine insert, they can't believe it, because that's not what their priesthood of celebrity scientific experts told them. It's likely that they have never even heard the word "adjuvant" before.

The priesthood keeps control of the conversation to be certain that any and every discussion of the magic potions acknowledges vaccines as the single greatest advancement of medical science in the history of humanity, and everyone must repeat the mantra "Vaccines are safe and effective. The Science is settled." 

Like Christians who don't read the Bible, the Scientism Cultists don't read the literature in which they invest so much faith. They don't know what the science actually says about vaccines. They only know what the priesthood of celebrity scientists and official sources reveal to them.

This is more dangerous now than ever before.

But, I am getting ahead of myself. We are still establishing what is, and who are, the establishment which constitutes the "they" who influence the telling of the corporate media narrative.

It's not a coincidence that the corporate media box heads are so defensive of the interests of Big Pharma and the Chemical-Pharmaceutical industrial complex. The corporate media, whether this be television, radio, newspapers, magazines, or even websites, can not survive without advertising dollars rolling in to fund their operations.

Over the last several decades of being derided as a "conspiracy theorist" for publicly stating verifiable facts about science and history, I have been repeatedly asked, "you say that they want us to believe in myths, but who are 'they,' Marv?"

The answer is so obvious and simple that few people are able to grasp the concept when I give them the easy answer for which they are asking. I tell them, "they are the advertisers."

Perhaps that sounds simplistic to you, but if I am required to distill down to a single word to describe who are the controlling interests and influences seeking to control the master narrative around science in general and vaccines in particular, I really can't more accurately describe them in their diversity than with the word "advertisers".

Now, the average person may find that answer confusing as they wonder what the local car dealership or a regional chain of restaurants have to do with the manipulation of language to influence how we think about science and vaccines, but I am not saying that every company which runs an advertisement for their products or services in the corporate media is a nefarious entity directly connected to the vast conspiracy to rule over us all. However, they can be tangentially connected, but that is not the purpose of this examination.

When you watch television news or read a newspaper or a weekly news magazine, whether in print or online, do you ever pay attention to the advertising that runs along with it? You should, because it's important to understand who is funding the presentation.

It's been frequently noted by comedians that, after a news segment in which the concerns of consumers are dismissed as a misunderstanding of science at best or a conspiracy theory mentality at worst, the very next thing you see are multiple ads for drugs. Often those drugs being advertised just happen to treat the myriad adverse health conditions which may arise in previously healthy individuals after a vaccination.

Pfizer is a major sponsor of numerous news outlets, especially those which purport to report specifically on the subjects of health and medicine. But, so is Bayer. And, Johnson & Johnson. And, Merck. And so on. The depth of this influence goes beyond the recognizable names of the Big Pharma cartel and extends to nearly every franchised business.

Yes, even your local franchise of your favorite fast food chain is tangentially connected to this conspiracy to manipulate how you think about science and your health as they contribute to the overall decline in general health. I will be going more into this in my series on endocrine disrupting chemicals (Raving About EDC).

When you understand the effects of corporate consolidation and interlocking board membership, the Advertisers as the answer to the question of "who are 'they'?" becomes apparent. The nominal advertisers of regional chain stores and local service providers may not seem like the sort of folks who are capable of exerting influence over how the global media talks about science and medicine. However, if you look deeper and discover the majority shareholders and institutional investors (if they are publicly traded), or the banks which hold the notes for their mortgage on the property or a loan for operational costs, then, the power behind the scenes becomes more apparent.

The corporate media can not survive without advertising dollars. This gives the advertisers an enormous amount of influence over the content of news coverage. 

It's not necessary for a spokesperson for a giant drug company to call an executive at the television station to demand that certain stories be dropped or modified. It's understood by the executive class, the producers and editors, that protecting the interests of the major advertisers is in their own interest. 

Those who are placed in positions of influence as media personalities also don't have to be explicitly told how to think about things and exactly what to say. Their educational experience and credentials have already provided that foundation and they wouldn't be allowed to attain such positions if they weren't team players who can be counted upon to uphold the narrative and read the script with a straight face even when they know that it's a lie.

Now, it's also not necessary for the parent corporation or the majority shareholders among the institutional investors to advertise themselves. In fact, they prefer to operate from the shadows behind the scenes. They tend to have multiple subsidiaries which do run ads in the corporate media, and sometimes they even own a significant if not controlling interest in the media companies themselves.

When you research the money behind the scenes of the vaccine manufacturers and corporate media outlets, you will find two names that pop up among the top shareholders and institutional investors over and over again; Blackrock and Vanguard.

So, obviously it is within the financial interest of the corporate media to defend the interests of Big Pharma. This defense takes many forms and the one I am going to focus on here is the promotion of religious belief in Science.

After all, drugs are Science! Vaccines are Science! You must not question the Science!

What are you, an "anti-vaxxer"? Are you "anti-Science"? Vaccines are Science!

Science! Sacred is its name without question for we have faith that all questions have been answered. The Science is settled.

The corporate media will tell you that the debate over vaccination is over. However, this declaration itself is not only false, it's anti-science. There remain numerous unanswered questions regarding vaccines, especially regarding the new mRNA injections currently being heavily promoted by the corporate media.

The fact is that under the strict definition of a vaccine, the mRNA injections are not a vaccination but rather are more accurately classified as gene therapy. However, this is getting ahead of the purpose of this examination of vaccine science history and the language used to describe it.

Of course, the fact that the definition of vaccine has been changed to include gene therapy is a perfect example of how the language used to describe vaccine science is revisionist and intentionally uses positive framing to promote the products and practice rather than present accurate information to ensure informed consent.

Suffice it to say that the corporate media uses language to influence how we are expected to think about science in general and vaccines in particular, and that language is influenced by a sensitivity to the interests of the advertisers.

Thus the language used to describe vaccine science is revisionist and intentionally uses positive framing to promote the products and practice. This changing language buries our history, concealing the ugly truth under a pile of painted and perfumed bullshit (or should I say cowpox?).

Hopefully, you now have a better grasp of the situation in which I will be presenting a history of vaccination science and the language used to describe it. You can understand why an alternative narrative is necessary.

The corporate media are not going to tell an honest history of vaccination science. They simply repeat myths. The success stories of Jenner, and Salk and Sabin are just that; stories. Myths. Think of them as the Disney version. The real history is far more disturbing.
