Visit the Château Comtal and the Basilica of Saint-Nazaire, and finish with a complete tour of the Cité along its ramparts, which offer breathtaking views of the city of Carcassonne, the vineyards of Languedoc, and the Montagne Noire.

Continue your adventure by walking down the hill where the Cité stands proudly, and cross the Pont-Vieux, which offers a panoramic view of the Medieval Cité and its ramparts. This is one last perspective on this unique place, after the view from above and the view from inside: the view from below. Make your way to the Bastide Saint-Louis and the Place Carnot and its fountain decorated with a statue of Neptune. Head towards the train station to reach the Canal du Midi. As you walk down to the riverbanks, take a moment to watch the barges passing through the Port de Carcassonne lock - the one with the lowest passage height along the entire Canal du Midi.
