Planets, stars and good wishes

By Duvinca | The world, the life & me | 22 Dec 2020

We are at that time when, in different ways, we celebrate the winter solstice. They are those short and dark holidays that we usually fill with end points, new wishes and good intentions.

The year ends, but another season begins, winter. And whether we are believers (Happy Christmas!), pagans (Happy Saturnalia!) or atheists (Happy Winter?)... we are going to spend special days. For example, many people will go crazy with the end of the year, at work or with shopping, but in our day to day we will also want to close issues, although we know that we will soon have new ones ahead. The circle of life, maybe the trajectory of a planet...

When I think in celebrations in different ways it is due to the fact that in almost all cultures or societies, renewal, death and the beginning are key of each society or group, important concepts to have in mind. So at the end, wherever we are there is always, in our busy calendar, some specific date to stop and think about our own cycle, what should we leave behind? What should we tackle now?

More than once we will have made that typical list of purposes that then, well, it does not usually turn out as we had planned on most occasions, but the lights and glitter decorations fill us with good intentions. We are more indulgent with sweets and perhaps our with own goals as well?

And there will be those who will say that any moment is the right time, that you do not have to wait for the streets to start decorating or to wait for the Christmas commercials on television to want to wish something good. There are those who from time to time look at the sky, see a shooting star and make a wish, we also have another opportunity on our birthday by blowing out the candles, another cycle of our life. But it seems that we continue to maintain some old customs, and we like to take advantage of turning the page of the calendar to also turn the page in our lives.

You have to do everything "just in case", the gold in the glass, wear something red, burn a paper, put candles, and other ancient rituals. We read our annual horoscope, it seems that the planets sponsor us good opportunities and give us twelve months of health, money and love. Now we finally have the force of the universe, everything is on our side, we lavish happiness and prosperity for this new year to each of the people we meet, regardless of whether we do not care much for the rest of the year. We, too, will receive congratulations in the form of a digital image in email, because in the new millennium, we do not get those beautiful paper cards.

All around us look very beautiful and evocative. We feel more optimistic between sequins and tinsel, although there are also certain moments of nostalgia for memories or failures of the past. But life goes on and you always have to think that the best is yet to come.

It is very good to think positively in the future, in fact, it is the best we can do despite the fact that uncertainty makes us very scared, but we must accept that we cannot control everything but that if we remain persevering in our effort, in our attitude and we act with confidence without demoralizing ourselves, we may be able to give a push to those planets that sometimes seem to conspire against us or we carry them behind our backs. No matter how situation is, we need to face it with our better smile and strength as well.

And beyond astronomical and astrological questions, sometimes it is good to stop for a moment, take a moment to look at the sky and think about ourselves and what we want, why not dream and wish something good? Those present omens can motivate us, but we cannot remain turning pages of the calendar, waiting for that magnificent planetary conjunction or a mere stroke of luck. The most important thing is to do things the best we can by trusting ourselves, that is, believe in yourself and in everything you can do. And remember to shine like a star!

Talking about stars and to finish, the last December, 21 of this year 2020 we have seen in our sky the Christmas Star after 800 years so... Hope you made a big wish!
