The most underrated money: the one you no longer spend #24

By luciman | MindVest | 12 Aug 2025

When it comes to money, most people focus on just one thing: earning more.
Yet those who truly get ahead aren't necessarily the ones with the biggest incomes, but those who know how to manage every single euro wisely.

Today we’re talking about a rarely mentioned but incredibly powerful concept:
the money you no longer spend.

Small savings that make a big difference

This isn’t about living on the edge or depriving yourself of everything you enjoy.
It’s about those few euros that leave your pocket without you even remembering where they went.

A soft drink from the petrol station. A subscription you’ve forgotten about. A quick takeaway “because it’s faster”.

But what if, instead of vanishing, that money became… an asset?

A practical example: 2 euros a day “saved”

Let’s say you identify and eliminate two small daily expenses that bring no real value.
Perhaps a product you don’t really use or a habit you’ve stopped questioning.

2 euros a day means:

  • 60 euros a month

  • 730 euros a year

  • 18,250 euros in 25 years

But that’s not all.

If that money were invested consistently, with an average annual return of 10%, the final amount would be €75,317.

⚠️ This is a hypothetical example based on historical returns and does not represent financial advice.

So:

  • €18,250 invested

  • €57,067 gained from appreciation

All from just 2 euros “not wasted” each day.

It’s not just about money. It’s about choice.

When you learn to say “no” to automatic spending, you’re really learning to take back control.
It’s not just about the money saved — it’s the message you’re sending to yourself:
“I decide what happens to my money. I’m in charge.”

The MindVest Challenge

Look honestly at your past 7 days.
Note down all your small expenses and ask yourself:

Which of these gave me no real value?

Then imagine those euros going into your future instead.

Do this weekly. It becomes a superpower.

In closing

Financial education isn’t just charts, interest rates, and assets.
It’s about how small, repeated choices build a great life.

And when you truly understand the value of the money you didn’t spend...
you start to become someone new.

MindVest is here, as always, by your side. Like a trusted friend, reminding you:
every euro counts.
