When you think of the desert, you mostly think of sands and cacti, well think again! 

The desert is full of plant diversity! As a biology student, I had the opportunity to explore diverse parts of the desert in southern Utah. While a lot of it is covered in Sage bushes (smells amazing btw), there are a lot of diversity if you look a little bit more closely! 

I wanted to share with you today some of what I found in a remote area of southern Utah! I was really surprised the first time I got there because from far away, it looked like full of Juniper trees and Sage bushes, nothing else! Well I found some amazing flowers and species of plants! 

When you go on hikes or just go to see nature, take a second to look up the plant diversity around you, you will be surprised how many there are!
