I have been using Brave for over a year and have been getting 3-8 BAT a month, its been pretty disappointing because I turned up adds all the way and make sure to click on and view them. It was almost to the point I was going to turn off the adds altogether and just use Brave because it blocks YouTube adds. This year has been a game changer, not sure what happened at Brave headquarter to change how much BAT they give out but it went from me getting 3-8 BAT to getting 25 BAT in January! Also the price of BAT has gone up (maybe because it is now worth the while of the users?) but it is looking like a good move from Brave and I hope it is a positive trend that continues. If you have been a past Brave user and have given up on the add I would recommend giving them a shot again.
What has been nice about the change is that the amount of BAT they give out is enough for me to not only have some for myself but I feel like I have enough BAT to actually tip content creators. In the months I was only receiving 3 BAT it was under the minimum tip amount. I couldn't tip a creator even if I wanted to. I understand that I could pay to put more BAT into my wallet but that defeats the purpose of Brave, the whole key to the system was that you would be earning enough BAT to tip those who you enjoyed, removing the need for them to advertise. If they continue the increased rewards I think it will go along way to making Brave and BAT a viable crypto currency and advertisement system. If you have been skeptical on BAT before maybe now is the time to invest in the project a little.
