This week’s battle challenge focuses on the Ferocity Ruleset.

The Ferocity ruleset grants all units the Fury ability. This ability allows cards to inflict double damage upon monsters equipped with the Taunt ability. The implications are profound as you will see in the battle below where I showcase the Ferocity ruleset and its effectiveness in neutralizing those pesky Taunt tanks that disrupt the battlefield by absorbing damage and shielding the more fragile, yet powerful, glass cannons and DPS monsters.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

In this battle, my Beta edition Water unit monsters, known for their strength, found themselves completely outmatched against a rival who deployed a full set of legendary magic monsters. These overpowered monsters obliterated my lineup effortlessly, as if the battle posed no challenge whatsoever. The Kraken fell after three hits and I knew the battle was over – granted I didn’t stand a chance. Back to the drawing board for me.

Do you like the Ferocity ruleset? Why or why not?

For those heavily reliant on monsters equipped with the Taunt ability, such as the Shieldbearer or the formidable Kraken, Ferocity introduces a significant obstacle. No matter the health or armor these monsters possess, they succumb to the brutal force of double damage. Balancing the advantages of Taunt against the risks of Fury becomes a delicate trade-off. In my experience, I've found myself avoiding the use of monsters with Taunt in the Ferocity ruleset, which compels me to step out of default mode and engage in strategic thinking before each play and the battle above was a stark reminder.
