This week's battle challenge focuses on the Efreet Elder:

A reward edition rare rarity monster from the Fire Splinter Splinter at level 3:

  • Estimated cost: ~$7.68
  • Mana cost: 6
  • Magic damage: 1
  • Speed: 4
  • Health: 9
  • Last Stand ability: Gains increased stats if it's the only Monster on the team alive.

The Efreet Elder is one of the newer reward cards introduced at the beginning of the year. It's a magic monster with chunky health, but what makes this card interesting is the Last Stand ability. When this ability is procced, it increases the monsters damage, speed and health. A unique ability paired with high health will enable Efreet Elder to hopefully last till the end of the battle for this ability to proc. Before this battle challenge, I have never used Efreet Elder often. Even more so never really experienced the Last Stand ability, so I was more than happy to undergo this battle challenge to learn more about the monster and this ability.

I knew going up against this opponent that I stood no chance as this player has 4.69m collection power, all of which are gold foil versions! However, I learnt about the Last Stand ability and how important it can be under specific rulesets. Efreet Elder, during the battle, chipped in with support here and there, but it did have its few seconds of fame when the Last Stand ability procced; when this ability procced Efreet Elder gained +1 magic damage, +1 speed and +5 health - insane! Imagine if I was going up against an equal opponent, this battle might have turned out differently.

Do you like the Efreet Elder? Why or why not?

Efreet Elder is a unique card with an exciting combination of high health and Last Stand ability. Currently, it's also the cheapest Last Stand ability monster card as this ability is a unique ability reserved for legendary (Kron the Undying, Diamond Dragon, Cthulhu) and epic monsters. Therefore on that basis, I think the Last Stand ability is a unique ability that, under specific rulesets, can be helpful and consequently, the Efreet Elder I a valuable monster to have in your collection purely on the basis that you can get it for free by completing your daily quests and receiving it in your seasonal reward chests.
