Introduced in 2019, the Goerli testnet has become an essential tool for Ethereum developers.

While Goerli's importance is undeniable, the Ethereum Foundation steers developers towards Sepolia and has quickly become the preferred platform for testing Ethereum-centric applications.

On Goerli, developers often struggle with GoETH distribution bottlenecks, thanks to its limited supply. Sepolia offers a solution with its unlimited token circulation but even that wasn't enough and a new contender Testnet "Holesky" comes into the scene Scheduled to debut in September, this testnet promises to be the next big thing in Ethereum's development saga.

Unlike Sepolia, Holesky will implement a fixed testnet token supply. However, with a cap of 1.6 billion, it is significantly less than the current Mainnet ETH supply of approximately 120 million.

While the Goerli story is winding down, Holesky is poised to change the game in the Ethereum testnet ecosystem. It complements Sepolia and pushes Ethereum development to new heights. Based on all of the above, the Helesky arrival is expected on September 15, 2023
