What is the difference between Coinbase and Coinbase Pro?


Coinbase: Catering to beginners and first time buyers into the crypto space. It is a place for consumers in general to purchase, sell and store crypto currencies. The platform offer a simple interface, instant transactions for verified accounts with higher percentage fee


Coinbase Pro: Catering to more experienced traders and business owners. It is an insured backed digital asset exchange. The platform is more intricate in its interface offering traders lower fees, a wider range of crypto currencies and pairs as well as margin trading.

Coinbase: 1.49% Maker and Taker


Coinbase Pro: .15% Maker .25% Taker and transactions costs get lower for high volume transactions

How to transfer funds between Coinbase wallet and Coinbase Pro wallet?

 

To transfer funds from your Coinbase wallet to your Pro wallet: 

  1. Go to the Coinbase Pro trading page
  2. Click on Deposit in the upper-left side of the page
  3. Next, a pop up window will appear
  • Select the currency type (i.e. BTC, ETC) you would like to deposit to Pro from Coinbase from the drop-down menu 
  • Select Coinbase Wallet on the right side of the window
  • Enter the amount you would like to deposit from Coinbase to Pro under where it says Amount
  • Click the blue Deposit button at the bottom of the window


To transfer funds from your Pro wallet to your Coinbase wallet: 

  1. Go to the Coinbase Pro trading page
  2. Click on Withdraw in the upper-left of the page
  3. Next, a pop up window will appear
  • Select the type of currency you would like to withdraw from Pro to Coinbase from the drop down menu
  • Select Coinbase Wallet on the right side of the window
  • Enter the amount you would like to withdraw from Pro to Coinbase under where it says Amount
  • Click the blue Withdraw button at the bottom of the window

Do I have to pay a monthly fee for Coinbase Pro? 

 

The answer is NO. Charges are only incurred when trades are performed. Please check the table able for Coinbase and Coinbase Pro basic rates.
