  📚 What is Liquid Staking?📚

Traditional staking and liquid staking are both mechanisms within the cryptocurrency and blockchain space that involve participants locking up their tokens to support network operations and, in return, earn rewards. However, they differ in how they handle the liquidity of the staked assets.

Traditional Staking:

• Lockup Period: In traditional staking, participants typically lock up their tokens for a predetermined period. This lockup period is necessary to ensure the security and stability of the network.
• Illiquidity: During the staking period, the tokens are illiquid, meaning participants cannot easily trade or transfer them. They are committed to supporting the network for the specified duration.
• Rewards: Participants receive rewards in the form of additional tokens for staking their assets. These rewards are usually a percentage of the total staked amount and are distributed based on the participant’s contribution to the network.

Liquid Staking:

• Flexible Staking: In liquid staking, participants can stake their tokens while retaining liquidity. In the case of LiNEAR Protocol, the $LiNEAR tokens acquired by users during the staking period are fully liquid. Users can utilize $LiNEAR tokens across various DeFi protocols on NEAR and Aurora, while enjoying the staking rewards associated with the underlying base $NEAR tokens.
• Decentralization: Liquid staking mechanisms enable users to delegate tokens to validators while maintaining control over their assets, thereby enhancing network decentralization. LiNEAR Protocol goes a step further with the Automatic Validator Selection Optimization algorithm, which automatically delegates users’ staked $NEAR tokens to over 200 validators. This algorithmic approach strengthens the security of NEAR’s network and further advances its decentralization.

Good question! You’ll need to have both Sweatcoin and the Sweat Wallet app downloaded on your mobile phone.

If you already have the Sweat Wallet app, jump to Step 4 below. Steps 1, 2, and 3 are for users who have Sweatcoin but do not have Sweat Wallet.
