Hello HODLers!
Waiting for tonight's appointment, in which I will be at the Olympic stadium in Rome to attend the presentation of the Roma squad for next season, let's start talking about football ... and obviously also about blockchain!
And we could not do otherwise as Barcelona have recently announced the sale of 24.5% of the shares of Barça Studios to Socios.com for 100 million dollars.
Football & Web3
The world of football is one of the sectors in which Web3 technologies are becoming more established. One of the main reasons is certainly linked to the strong following, and consequently to the great visibility, that blockchain companies can achieve through sports-themed initiatives and collaborations. Fan tokens, sponsorships, Sorare's NFT fantasy football, in short, the world of football is increasingly integrated with the world of blockchain and the Web3!

Socios acquires 24.5% of the Barça Studios
After entering the world of fan tokens (with the launch of the BAR fan token on the Socios app, also known as Chiliz), Barcelona also wants to enter Web3 to win more and more fans around the world and increase engagement with their community of fans.
The Spanish club announced, on Monday 1 August 2022, the sale of 24.5% of the shares of Barça Studios to Socios.com for 100 million dollars.
Barça studios is the sector of the football club that deals with creating multimedia content for supporters. From now on, Socios will be responsible for developing the brand with regard to Web3 initiatives, thanks to the support of the Chiliz blockchain. The partnership between the two brands, however, is not a real novelty. In fact, the collaboration had already started in February 2020 for the launch of the $ BAR fan token on Socios.com. Since then, more than $ 39 million worth of BARs have been sold. What will the Web3 projects of FC Barcelona and Socios focus on? There will obviously be NFTs and who knows, maybe even a metaverse. Socios and Chiliz are establishing themselves as one of the most interesting realities in the "football and cryptocurrency" scene, also through illustrious brand ambassadors such as Del Piero and Lionel Messi, but they are not the only realities to integrate more and more with the world of football: if we give a look only in Italy we agree that Binance is sponsor of Lazio, Digitalbits is sponsor of Rome, Crypto.com is official partner of Serie A.
