Do Life Well

EXERCISE: Doing and the Present Moment

A stillness behind the eyes gives way to the open field of purpose. Of what needs to be done.

TODAY: Focus on doing what needs to be done, regardless of any mental impediments that may cloud the doing. That is, beware of your own efforts to self-sabotage doing what you know needs to be done. Simply said, ignore how your mind fights against you and do what needs to be done in the present moment.

Remember, the vacuum only cleans those areas that you direct it over. Keep pushing. One movement at a time. Soon, the entire room is vacuumed.

Remember, you can still not feel like doing something and still do it. Plus, in the doing of it, you may find your feeling has shifted (in a productive way).

Remember, doing is done in the present moment, not the future. While I believe it is important to move toward the ideal with a purposeful vision, the actual doing is an act of being present. Simply do what needs to be done.

REFLECTION: Did this way of thinking give you any relief? Did you get any projects started or accomplished? How could this be a useful strategy in your daily life?

Thank you.
