Recycling Value and Rethinking Management

Lately I've been revising my Splinterlands strategy on a regular basis in an effort to maximize returns while maintaining my spot in Silver III. This is the highest league I can compete in without having to spend DEC on rentals, which I try to avoid at all costs. More DEC means more airdropped SPS on a daily basis, plus the token has tanked as of late, so spending or selling it is a big no for me at the moment.

As a matter of fact, I used to rent out a large part of my deck for passive DEC income, but as a result I would have to compete in Bronze I, and DEC rewards are significantly lower down there compared to where I'm competing now. The same goes for Quest and Season rewards, thus I decided to start fighting more and renting out less. The game is very enjoyable anyway, so spending a few more minutes per day on the battlefield can't really hurt.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the game is the wide range of options provided. $10 for that Summoner's Spellbook is all it takes to get started, and from then on, you are granted access to an endless loop of crypto and NFT rewards without having to ever spend a single dime again. Of course - as is the case with pretty much everything else in the space - the more you invest, the more you make. The problem is that there's so much different stuff to invest in when it comes to Splinterlands.

I've been taking advantage of the current situation with DEC and SPS in order to add to my position and buy cheap cards from the market. I'm mostly focused on low mana epics, as I've figured they add more to my Collection Power at relatively low prices, and at the same time make it easier to win battles and go on win streaks. Old me would just buy packs and open them hoping for some good draws, but now I realize that may not be my best bet.

Still holding on 71 unopened Chaos Legion packs which I'm not planning to open, ever. For the time being, and as long as the SPS airdrop goes on, they will remain untouched together with the rest of my in-game assets, adding to my airdrop points and bringing in more SPS on a daily basis. Staking rewards have declined significantly, but I will happily take that 28.58% APR and look to capitalize on it as I intend to just keep building my SPS stack.

Word that the governance token will provide holders with more ways of generating passive income in the future is in the air, but even if that's not the case, I still have absolute trust in the team and believe we've seen nothing yet. Plus selling SPS I was handed out for free at such low prices doesn't feel like a smart move, especially considering that we are talking about one of the best and most talked about P2E games in the world. I'll just give it time and build in the process.

I've stopped buying Chaos Legion packs but will definitely FOMO in and buy up more once we are close to selling out. Things have slowed down a bit as of late, and it seems that I will have plenty of time to reach my goal of holding 200 Chaos Legion packs. After all, PolyCUB happened and I had to allocate more funds to take advantage of those juicy APRs on Polygon. Instead of investing directly in packs, I can invest in the stablecoin kingdom, earn yield, and use it to get free packs.

My plan has always been to get resale value on that purchase, and even though it may take some time to get there, I believe it will inevitably happen, just like with all previous editions. Chaos Legion NFTs do not add that much to one's Collection Power, but these cards are very powerful in battle. Therefore, I expect cards and packs to get significant price appreciation with time.

The bottom line is, whichever route you decide to take in your Splinterlands journey, long-term thinking is the common denominator. I'm planning to enjoy the ride, follow my own rules, stay tuned with the latest developments and revise my plans accordingly. What about you?

That sums it all up for now.

Never forget!
