Governments around the world have placed ever heavier restrictions and limits on their citizens to restrict the spread of COVID-19. Some nations have gone into lockdowns, often multiple times.

More often, they restrict public gatherings, stop international flights and ensure contact tracing and regular testing for the virus.

These restrictions have caused immense problems and damage to businesses, individuals and communities.  Many small businesses around the world have closed, perhaps permanently. Individuals are left with no work or less hours, as well as being unable to visit family or friends. Entire communities have been locked down, often for several months causing social unrest, domestic violence as well as very high levels of anxiety, depression and suicide attempts.

As a result, many Governments have been providing support to businesses and individuals that have been affected. They have provided vouchers to encourage individuals to go out and spend money with small businesses. All the while, public servants and politicians have not taken pay cuts nor really been affected by the changes.
