Storj is a decentralized cloud service that runs with rented storage. But, what happens to data we send to ?

1 - the uplink

The uplink is the program (on ur computer) that will communicate with storj cloud. It will encrypt and fragment data, before sending them.

2 - the satellite

A satellite is a server that will manage nodes. Official satellite network is tardigrade, but other can be created.

For example, it will say to the uplink where are fragments stored. It will also make payments (with storj token). 

3 - the nodes

After being "routed" by satellites, fragments are stored by nodes. For making system more resistant, these fragments are copied on around 10 nodes.

These nodes are paid proportionally to the stored data and the used bandwidth.
