Playing games on PC or reading LitRPG and GameLit books

LitRPG for Gamers with busy lifestyles

As an avid gamer, I have played all sorts of games as far back as I can remember. From the early arcade machines by the beach to board games with the family and all the countless video games over the years on different consoles, not forgetting the choose your own adventure books and tabletop roleplaying games.

You could say gaming is heavily ingrained in me and although my passion in gaming has not faltered in the slightest, the time I have available is not what it once was. As a child, teen, and even young adult, I had lots of time available to play the many games that piqued my interest. However, now as an adult with a young child time and a very busy lifestyle, gaming has had to take the backseat. Don’t get me wrong, I still play as and where I can, but it can’t compare to how I used to spend hours a day playing. Nowadays, it’s sporadic.

This is why when I found the niche genre of LitRPG books, it ignited something extraordinary within me. I could enjoy gaming while reading in short breaks where I’m resting.

Perhaps some people achieve this by watching videos of games being streamed on YouTube, Twitch etc. But I feel there are 3 advantages (to me personally — this is subjective) that LitRPG books have:

  1. Watching someone else play makes the experience less immersive. I want to still feel like I’m the one driving the protagonist.
  2. You are not confined by the game’s graphics and can instead fill in a lot with your imagination.
  3. I really enjoy the crunchy stats in most LitRPGs which you can reference at your own pace.

I hope that I have helped introduce you to an exciting genre that I’m smitten with, so much so that I’ve written my own and will be releasing it at the end of this year. It’s about a world where colossal beasts roam the vast lands. For more information on my book ‘Age of the Behemoths’ please visit: and subscribe to the mailing list.

Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it! :)
