So today I went to bed at 1am.
Why?
Because of a last minute Christmas rush. I have my own side business making silver jewellery, and this week I've been completing Christmas orders and last minute *urgent* gift orders. Today I had 2 orders that needed to be complete. This doesn't sound like a lot but one of them is an incredibly complicated project which has taken around 6 months to complete!
Besides the jewellery orders, I needed to finish putting together 2 gift bundles for work friends as our last day at work before Christmas starts in about 2 hours. All of the gifts are homemade, I just needed to make a batch of shortbread biscuits and bottle up the homemade creme de cassis for them. Except I couldn't because one of my in-laws wanted my partner and I to visit to exchange gifts. No problem, I thought, this will take 5 minutes. Except it didn't. We were there for an hour and a half, we couldn't get away. In that time one of my customers had contacted me asking if she could collect her order, but I missed the message and the order wasn't ready anyway! 🤦♀️
I was also given coffee whilst there, I felt rude declining. That was a bad idea in the evening.
I ended up working on the orders until midnight. Then had my dinner. Then started making our work lunches. Then started thinking about the Christmas gifts I needed to get ready. The biscuits are not baked (and won't be), the cassis is being strained now and hopefully I can bottle it tomorrow before work🤞
I got 2 hours of bad sleep before waking up, I'm unable to go back to sleep 😭
