Years ago was watching an amazing documentary about a neurological condition, where people could taste sounds, colours would stimulate tastes. Every now and then something would remind me of the phenomenon and the documentary. But could not remember the name or any other details.
Monet Digital Exhibition
A group of us recently attended the “Monet in Paris” Multi Sensory Exhibition.

Monet came from the impressionist era. It was a time in art history when artists started focusing on capturing the fleeting impressions of light and color in their work.

The exhibition plunged you into the sights and sounds of bohemian Paris and the lush colourful countryside of France, with breath-taking paintings projected on an enormous scale.

Being bombarded with light, colours and sounds on such a scale reminded me of the documentary again but the details were once again elusive. It was definitely a multi sensory exhibition. Even the floor was a live lily pond with goldfish swimming through the lily leaves.
Lumosity
My wife and I both use the Lumosity app to train our brains in
- speed
- memory
- attention
- flexibility
- reasoning
- math
- language
The app randomly chooses 5 games to play daily. Todays first game was Contextual. Bingo.

Cupcake is the word that needed to be fixed.
Grapheme-colour synesthesia
One of the more common forms of synesthesia is grapheme-color synesthesia. This is where certain people see coloured letters and numbers. For example the letter "A" may be perceived as red or the word "Monday" may appear blue.
When I was younger I found taking acid artificially induced something very similar.
Synesthesia
The neurological condition is more common in women and people with artist abilities.
Somewhere between 1 in 2,000 and 1 in 300 people have the condition or according to another source 2%-4% of the population (latter from a not very reliable source, prone to hallucinations)
- Chromesthesia - sounds trigger the perception of colours
- Auditory-Tactile - sounds evoke sensations of touch
- Spatial-Sequence - numbers, months, or days are visualized in specific spatial arrangements
- Mirror-Touch - observing someone being touched causes the synesthete to feel a similar sensation on their body
- Ordinal Linguistic Personification - numbers or letters are associated with personalities or genders
- Emotion-Colour - emotions are linked to specific colours
- Taste-Sound - sounds evoke specific tastes in the mouth
- Calendar-Colour - days of the week or months are perceived as colours
- Music-Colours - musical notes or chords are associated with colours
DISCLAIMER: I promise no AI was harmed in the researching, editing and publishing of this (as much as I might have wanted to). But lots of CO2 was produced, doing my bit to make planet earth green.
