Hello friends and players of Splinterlands,
another season of Splinterlands is over and it is also the fifth consecutive season in which I did not reach the goal that I had set at the beginning of the season: the league Champion III.
In fact, I end the season exactly like the previous one in league Diamond II.

I end the season with a rating of 3172 points and finish in position 271 of the Diamond ranking.

Last season I had achieved a slightly higher rating (3211 points) and finished in the number 261 position in the Diamond ranking.

I fought a total of 312 battles and my final winrate was 45.51% and the maximum number of consecutive wins was 8.

To finish in the Diamond II league I had to increase my Power score and rented 8 cards from the marketplace at https://peakmonsters.com/.

I ended all rental contracts still in progress and the total cost I incurred for renting was $0.25

Diamond Ranking Considerations

Placing in the top ranks of the Diamond Leaderboard is out of my reach and generally not easy at all.
I looked at the card collection of the first ranked player and the card collections of the middle ranked players to get an idea of the cards needed to get into the top twenty.

I'll start with the first place considerations.

Diamond Leaderboard - First Position

The leaderboard was won by player sci-populi with a rating of 4347 points.

Sci-populi has a card collection worth $11172,66

image.png

The $ value of the card collection is an indicator but not the most important one because the ranking is determined by the battle value of the cards more than the economic value.

Looking at the sci-populi card collection it is evident that to get the top spot in the Diamond rankings you need to have:

  • Legendary summoners (maximum level).
  • A good number of legendary cards (maximum level)

Below I show you the legendary summoners and legendary cards that are present in the deck of the first place winner of the Diamond Leaderboard of Splinterlands.

The rating score distance between me and the first place finisher is 1175 points.
1175 rating points separates my card collection worth about $500 from a card collection worth almost $12000.

Ascertained that getting to the first position is almost impossible unless you spend and invest thousands of dollars, let's see now the card collections of the players who are placed in the middle of the ranking.

Diamond Leaderboard - Mid-ranking positions

Two players finished the season mid-table with equal rating scores: raised2b and b0ga4

The player b0ga4 has a collection of cards worth 4118 $.

Looking at the card collections of these two players gives you a better understanding of what it takes to place in the middle of the leaderboard and receive 10 packs of Untamed cards as a reward.

The two players have profoundly different collections:

  • Raised2b has 2 legendary summoners of which only one is at the highest level.
  • b0ga4 has 4 legendary summoners all at max level.

Raised2b only has 5 legendary cards at max level while b0ga4 has 14 legendary cards at max level.

The other difference between the two players is that b0ga4 only completed 196 battles to get to 21st place while Raised2b had to do 572 battles.

In conclusion to get to the top positions in the Diamond rankings you can follow two strategies:

  • invest more money as b0ga4 did and save time.
  • invest a lot of time and save money as raised2b did

I don't have any money or time right now and for this reason I don't even consider ranking.

My goal for the current season

My goal for the new season is always the same: to return to the Champion III league.
It won't be easy, but in order to try I will have to optimize my card collection.

I will sell the cards I don't use in battle and try to level up at least two of my summoners.

I'll show you now the reward I got for the conclusion of the Splinterlands season.

My end-of-season reward

The expected reward for players who make it to the Diamond II league is 50 chests.

In the following image you can see the cards I found in the chests.

image.png

I found 19 cards out of 50 chests.

The most valuable card is Fineas Rage which has a market value of $0.067 and a conversion value to DEC of 40.

The total value of the cards is 0.568 $.

DEC and Potions

I also found 14 Potions and a total of 246 DEC tokens.

Today, December 17, 2020, 246 DEC are equivalent to the value of 1,60 HIVE

image.png

The dollar value is 0,21 $

image.png

I also found a pack of Untamed cards.

I decided to open the pack and you can see from the next image the cards I found inside.

The total value of the cards I found in the pack of cards is $0.36 (Market Price)

Conclusion

I'm going to do some calculations now:

  • total card rental cost: 0,25 $

  • value of cards found in chests: 0,568 $

  • total value of DEC tokens found in chests: 0,21 $

  • total value of cards found in Untamed card packs: 0,36 $

The total reward is (- $0.25 + $0.568 + $0.21 +0.36) = 0.888 $.

A disappointing reward that could have been significantly better but Splinterlands is a fun game that rewards you for playing.

Which traditional and centralized game rewards you to play?

The answer is obvious:

none!
