Dear Friends,
With the advent of technology and the development of Social Media platforms, it gives the advantage to every common man to express his/her views and sometimes social media platforms brings the news without any bias and accurate information.
It is a right kind of platform that everyone participate.
But it is like a sword. Can be used both for good and bad.
The usage of Social Media Triggers – Its Effects
We often use a word in our daily life
“He triggered me.”
When does this feeling usually come?
People who are close to us
• Family
• People at work
• Friends
• People who are associated with us
Sometimes, when they say or do something, it can lead us to feelings of anger, irritation or stress.
But now something new is happening.
Even people we don’t know through social media trigger our minds.
We don’t even know where they are.
We have never met them in person.
They are
• Actors
• Celebrities
• Politicians
• Or social media celebrities
But even an event that happened in their lives creates many feelings in our minds.
We have come across many such incidents on various event that were made viral in the social media as well which people commented, disrespected and even made people so sad too.
Here an important question arises.
Does this trigger really give us growth?
Celebrities live their lives.
They have
• Career goals
• Business goals
• Future vision
All of these.
The actions they take may be for their own personal and professional growth.
But when we react emotionally to those events, we need to ask ourselves:
What does this mean for my life?
• Does this increase my peace of mind?
• Does this improve my family relationships?
• Does this help my health?
• Does this help me achieve my goals?
Most of the time, the answer is no.
Impact on Mental Health
When we constantly respond emotionally to social media events,
• Our mind can become restless
• Unnecessary thoughts can increase
• Our focus can shift away from our lives
• Our emotional energy can be wasted
This can slowly affect our mental health, focus, and progress in life.
There is nothing wrong with having an opinion.
It is also normal to observe what is happening in society.
But when the actions of people we do not know start to affect our peace of mind, it is time to think.
Celebrities are building their lives.
They are working for their future.
But we are the ones who build our lives.
An important reminder
Instead of asking, “What are they doing?”
We should ask ourselves:
• What am I creating in my life?
• What is my goal?
• What should I use my mental energy for?
We don’t have to respond to every single thing we see.
We can ignore some things or use that event in a way that makes us happy (to increase our views, or to celebrate it when it’s happening in our lives).
These are the things that are good for our peace of mind.
Because moving forward in life is all about what we prioritize.
