The way the world reacted to Elon Musk's pay package is spectacular. A fantastic show of idiocy and ignorance.
First, in 2025, there are still people who believe that net worth = money in the bank.
People in Forbes 100 probably have a few millions in the bank at any given moment, but they're worth billions because they own a large portion of companies worth a lot of money. In most cases, they founded these companies, or at the very least they were pivotal in turning them into giants.
The second thing people don't seem to understand is that this doesn't mean Elon Musk will be handed a $1 trillion check.
It means that IF, IF, he manages to turn Tesla into a $8.4 trillion company, he gets around 12 percent of it.
That's it.
If, 10 years from now, the company is worth $8.3 trillion, he doesn't get the 'bonus'.
I don't dispute that it's unfair to have people who can't put food on the table and billionaires on the same planet, I get that.
But in order to criticise something, and improve on something, we have to at least understand it, and it seems to me so many people don't. They're just blinded by anger and ignorance.
