As the title says, I've been looking into some of the sold-out Splinterlands booster packs and was curious how to purchase one. I'm sure others don't know either and it also applies to many other assets/tokens on Hive Engine which are not related to Splinterlands.
For those that don't know, Splinterlands is a block-chain card game that is creating quite the buzzzz. What has triggered the rush is that there are multiple ways that people are making an income from the game. Either buy winning tournaments, renting out their assets, airdrops and reselling items such as booster packs.
For me, I only joined late (May 2021) and most of the earlier assets (Alpha, Beta boosters, lands) were all sold out. That's it I thought, no way to ever own them. There is always renting, but ownership feels different.
Some of the cards from earlier editions are getting very, very expensive. Buying a cheaper booster pack doesn't guarantee that you will get an expensive card, but some people what to take that gamble.

Then I explored Hive engine a little bit more and wow, I should have found it earlier. Still took some time for me to get used to it and understand how it works, but now it's a breeze.
Here's how I do it. It may require some tweaking based on your geographic location.
If you have SWAP.HIVE, go to step 6
If you have HIVE, go to step 4
If you have BNB, BTC or other crypto you would like to use, go to
Otherwise, start with step 1
1) Go to Binance.com and buy some BNB. ( <a href="https://accounts.binance.com/en/register?ref=172140684">Link if you don't have an account</a> )
2) On Binance.com go to the advanced trade feature and trade BNB for HIVE.
3) Withdraw the HIVE to your HIVE address
4) Login or install a HIVE keychain
5) Go to Hive Engine and deposit the HIVE. This creates SWAP.HIVE, the currency of HIVE engine.
6) Put in the buy order for the item/token that I want
7) Once purchased I send the item to steemmonsters . This sends it to my Splinterlands account.
