Tip-begging - Definition and probable solution!

Tip-begging - Definition and probable solution!

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Today I had a request from one user (who I actually thank, because this gave me the inspiration to write a new article) to talk about tip-begging. But let's rewind.

What is tip-begging?

Tip-begging is a phenomenon pretty common here on Publish0x, and it's also pretty simple: you write a post, just to get money for it. There is no good content, there is no study behind anything it's proposed in the post. It has been just made for tips. This is annoying for most people that write to propose something different, something unique (little spoiler: new blog post will talk about a really great platform) and then they get tips for their time deployed for the article.

But why is it so common?

Publish0x born with a simple intention: earn by reading news. There is a little leak here. You don't have to stay on the page for the reading time the site says, you just click on a random post and tip it. It is so common because people don't read the content of the news, they just tip and go for another one. It is also true that good authors receive a tip anyway (even for long articles), but this penalizes them at the same time because there is a lower possibility that a user leaves a follow to the specific author due to the good work he has done.

Why do I hate it?

I mainly hate it because this penalizes also me. I'm trying to write posts regularly, and take good content on this site for my (few) followers that I have, and for the casual readers that may encounter my articles. Alright, getting tipped is a good thing, this also motivates people to write more articles, but sometimes is abused by no-brain people! I saw posts with fake giveaways, posts with fake declarations, and also FAKE NEWS! This is unacceptable. The misinformation is a bad beast and here it should be more controlled.

Is there any way to solve it?

The problem has been already partially solved by Publish0x Dev Team who applied some limitations to tips (check the figures below), but it needs another upgrade, in my opinion.

In this first image, we can see the limitation for every author. You can tip an author once every 24 hours.

In this second image, we can see the limitation for every post applied by Publish0x, which is 10 minutes for every tip (like a faucet).

To avoid this problem a good idea is to properly use the "read time" expectation by the site (written at the bottom of every post title) to oblige people to read it or to stay on the page for a while, so they can read the article and really understand if it worth to tip or less.

Conclusion

We all know that tip-begging is common here, but there is some way to "totally" solve it (or almost), and those have been explained above. Let me know what is your opinion about this phenomenon by commenting under this post! I wanna know also your feedback for the post (it's different from others).

P.S: I know that the thumbnail picture is cropped wrongly, but I didn't have any way to solve it.
