How I Got Scammed In An Online Investment And How I Turned The Idea Into A Good Thriving Online Service Business

Back in 2003 I was working in a management consulting firm and it was such a busy place where we were just too busy and virtually had very little time for ourselves. Been one of the very few in the office then with good computer skills I had one allocated to me. This gave me the opportunity to carryout researches online and got familiar with a lot of stuff.

On my way to the office one of the days, I bought a local newspaper which I usually read while in the ever busy rush hour traffic. I saw an ad that got my attention, it was a company that was looking for investors as they were into web hosting services and stated that they were having a lot of customers now and needed to buy a reseller server plan. Investors were going to get a share of the monthly profit from the business. They gave a list of some online businesses they already offer their services to and from the surface everything looked great.

By the time I got to our office I looked up the company online, I checked the websites they were already offering their services to and everything checked out ok, I made calls to the company numbers and everything went through. They had a deadline for interested investor to pay in their money and unfortunately for me the deadline was on a Friday which meant there was no way I could go visit the company without coming late to my office and that was a situation I didn’t want because coming late to the office was really frowned at.

By Thursday I paid in the money which was about $150 then. I wasn’t driven by the interest they offered to pay but rather was happy to be an investor in an online business which I saw as a growing sector and I felt that with time it will grow into something and I would be a part of that greatness. To cut the long story short, after the deadline for investors to invest which was Friday, I called their phone number on Saturday to inform them that they hadn’t sent me an acknowledgement for my payment but the phone line wasn’t going, I felt maybe because it was a weekend, so I waited anxiously for Monday to arrive.

8am Monday morning I started making calls to all their phone numbers but none was going through, I keep call all week long but no luck, it seemed the numbers just went dead. Saturday came and I finally had time to go visit their office, so I hit the road to find out what has really happened to my money. My fears were confirmed when I discovered the address of the office was an empty plot of land.

I felt really bad about it but I took it like a man. Lol. Anyways, by 2009 I started a bulk SMS business and that needed for me to pay for web hosting services. This led me to research more about web hosting services and web hosting reseller business. By 2010 I had received training on website designing, which meant I’ll be designing and hosting websites for clients, it also meant I had to also offer domain name registration as part of the business.

A disappointing start to online investment for me you might say, but it open my eyes to see a wealth of opportunities offering online services hold. I really do not understand why the guys decide to scam people that invested in their business because I think if they had kept it legit they would have done well with time. For me I still offer online services till date and they are very profitable with less stress, all you need are reliable web hosting provides, relatively good priced domain name registrant offered and your talent of course.
