Fork
We often talk about a fork in both development and crypto news.
What is a fork?
When developing a program (it can be for Crypto or anything else), the mader *version the code, so it is shared between different users. When the users who develop this code disagree, one of them creates what is called a fork, it makes a copy of the code and starts a new project, then the two projects are developed separately and diverge.
*version the code : Versioning is a clone system (copy of the project on a local network or on the cloud), to advance several times on different tasks. It also allows you to archive a set of files keeping the chronology of all changes that have been made to them. This way, there is no risk of altering or losing the data already saved in the common repository.
Example of fork:
- Bitcoin which splits into two projects with Bitcoin cash.
- Linux Debian which splits into a new projects Linux Ubuntu
- Linux Ubuntu which splits into a new projects Linux Mint
