Is 2022 The Year of the Ada?

By Jcvols | Jcvols | 21 Jan 2022

Today we're going to look into the growing world of Cardano. From planting trees to the fast growing Metaverse, Cardano is involved in a wide range of projects that affect not only the virtual world but the physical world as well.

What is Cardano

Cardano is a blockchain platform that runs off a proof-of-stake (PoS) protocol called Ouroboros. Ouroboros is touted as being highly scalable and highly securable, combining technology and mathematically verified mechanisms to ensure security and meet the capabilities of global demand. All while being as energy efficient as possible.
Cardano is founded by Charles Hoskinson, who was also a co-founder of Etherium. Due to philosophical differences with Vitalik Buterin, Hoskinson and Etherium parted ways, and thus we now have Cardano.

Ada, the currency of Cardano

Ada is the native currency of Cardano, named after a 19th century mathematician, Ada Lovelace. With Ada, you can not only make secure transactions within the Cardano network, but also stake your Ada, ensuring the Cardano network continues running with the added benefit of netting you a decent reward in the form of more Ada.

Cardano and the Trees

Last year, the Cardano Foundation announced an initiative to plant 1 million trees, partnering with Veritree to accomplish this goal. Just last week they announced that the project has achieved 100% funding. While this number may seem insignificant in the overall scheme of global warming, the fact that a company is actively trying to do their part in bettering the world shows the people behind the scenes are the type of people you want to succeed.

My Predictions for Cardano for 2022

With SundaeSwap, a DEX based on the Cardano blockchain launching Thursday January 20th, Cardano will look to take a new step up the ladder. This should give ADA some relief from some of the FUD out there and allow a slow and steady climb from where ADA stands now. NFTs and blockchain gaming, however, will be where Cardano will truly shine. I fully believe by the end of 2022, ADA will have doubled in price and once the ball starts rolling, it will become a locomotive that builds up steam and continue to rise, making Cardano the blockchain of choice for years to come.

The NFT market is the new kid on the block and as such everyone is wanting to jump in early to avoid missing out (FOMO). One of the most intriguing NFT collections I have seen is Aw0k3n Alg0rithms, an NFT that produces an infintely generated image they tout as living and they truly are a sight to behold.

Blockchain gaming, in my opinion, will be the next big thing for 2022. Who doesn't want the opportunity to play games and earn money doing it? The potential here is massive, and one I've had my eye on for a couple of months, is Cornucopias: The Island Awaits. The game looks amazing, the devs actively participate with it's future players on discord, and the community in general just seems to be a great laid back community. If they deliver on what they have planned, and I see no reason they can't, then this game will be THE game everyone talks about.

With that said, I am not a financial advisor and my opinions are my own and in no way should be viewed as a definative path forward, just a possibility that I believe can and will happen. I promote DYOR and advise everyone to do just that before making any decisions on investments, be it ADA or any other crypto.
