BECAUSE GOD GAVE ME A CHANCE
As I walked into the sunlight
Within the world within my sight,
I looked for someone to hold.
When I found none, I turned so cold
Alone, I faced the glaring sun
Never before I have felt so shunned
From the world I considered as my own
From the people who had turned to stone.
I saw a bird up in the sky
I tried to call but it didn't hear me cry.
I saw the monkey on a tree
In a second, it wasn't there to see.
I walked on, my hand clasped together
Hoping that it's just a stormy weather
that would pass me by like it always did
But no, my prayers God didn't heed.
I asked the Lord why it had to happen.
He answered me right there and then,
"Find the door into your heart"
And once you have a new life you'd start.
I wondered how to reach that door
To see what I had left in store.
I never noticed ever yet
That my true self I've never met.
My blurry vision began to clear.
My eyes perked up, ready to hear
the cries of my heart within
Which my own eyes have never seen.
I cried and begged him for forgiveness
for I deserved even less.
I felt dirty and ashamed,
I felt helpless and stained.
But he forgave and gave me a chance
To get off my lazy stance.
He sent a friend that would guide
And always be right by my side.
And so I walked into the sunset
My life had all been set
With my hands clasped on my friend's who'd stay with me till the end.
