For a year now, I have been looking out for alternative investment avenues and landed on this lovely solution called Mintos.
It is a startup that recently raised crowdfunding and has already a great customer base.
- It is a peer to peer lending site, regulated by the UK.
- The ecosystem consists of individuals/businesses who want to invest in loans and the lending companies that have issued loans to individuals/companies across more than 30 countries.
- What I like the most about this platform is your ability to choose the loans that you want to invest in based on their credit history/rating, skin in the game by lending companies, the type of loans you are comfortable with, and a host of other parameters.
- You can invest in as little as 10 euros equivalent and many currencies.
- Lately, this platform has tools for automated investment strategy, which keeps your money rolling.
- Of course, there are risks. For example, one of my investments went sour (even though I had a buy-back guarantee) that the lending company fell short of repaying the principal in millions. This lending company`s rating has been downgraded, and they are in the process of repaying the principal quarterly. Diversification of your portfolio is crucial.
- Despite some setbacks, I have enjoyed around 10+% of interest on specific investments depending on the currency, market, etc.
My experience has been that this is a good alternative for a relatively stable investment compared to trading.
Love to hear about your experience with this platform or similar peer-to-peer investing opportunities.
