Why do we always make the same mistakes?
I am not referring to the real compulsion to repeat understood as disease, as to the tendency inherent in each of us to constantly repeat the same mistakes to get ourselves into situations that we already know are wrong.
Who more, who less, we do it all a bit, how come?
Perhaps it is the fear of the unknown that drives us to this absurd behavior.
In fact we have already experienced that negative situation and, in some way, overcome or accepted it, so we know we are able to do it.
Instead, choosing a new situation, an unknown path never taken, creates more discomfort than following the same, usual, path that we know is wrong, but that we know and evaluate in any case as bearable even if annoying.
Is there a remedy?
Accept the risk, test yourself, think that you are able to potentially overcome any new and unusual situation or situation.
It seems to me that today less and less young people, once masters in getting involved for precisely exquisite reasons, are now increasingly fearful in the face of the unknown and often turn around in the compulsion to repeat more than what happened only a few years ago to their peers.
I was struck by the crowd of questions that a boy asked me a few years ago, when I was about to leave by motorbike alone for the North Cape.
He had a thousand doubts, a thousand situations from which he wanted to know in advance how to get out, he found a journey of complete tranquility daring just because he could not foresee any potentially dangerous or even problematic aspect.
I was disconcerted by this attitude: I hadn't asked myself any of his questions, my approach was, and fortunately still is, I will face the problem if and when, when and if it should arise, I cannot foresee everything before leaving, otherwise I would never leave!
Perhaps this attitude of mine derives from one of the phrases that my grandmother often repeated:
Val pusé un andà che cent anduma!
which, translated means more or less:
Better to leave than to say a hundred times let's go!
