The so-called global warming [1], that is the fact that the average temperature of the planet is constantly increasing and the theory that this phenomenon is to a considerable extent due to human activities are two points so widely shared by the international scientific community that they have convinced almost all world governments; this led, on December 12, 2015, to the signing of the so-called Paris Agreement [2].
The agreement then entered into force on November 4, 2016, as the minimum requirements were met: the ratification of at least 55 countries which together represent 55% or more of global greenhouse gas emissions.
How is it possible then that many people still question global warming and even some countries, especially the USA under the Trump administration [3], have even decided to exit the Paris agreement, considering the whole thing just a frame?
What mistakes has the scientific community made and still makes if they have so easily taken denialist opinions on the phenomenon?
First of all, a deleterious mixture of the two is made, also by those who make scientific popularization.
It is necessary to clearly distinguish between the fact, amply demonstrated by measurements and incontrovertible data, that the earth has gradually increased its average temperature over the past 150 years [4]; that the concentration of greenhouse gases, in particular CO2 in the atmosphere, has increased [5]; that most glaciers have shrunk dramatically both in breadth and in depth [6]; that both the Arctic and the Antarctic are undergoing a process of melting the cap [7]; that the sea level is rising [8]; etc.
Simply put, global warming is a fact.
The theory that a decisive part in the phenomenon of global warming is attributable to human activity is instead a theory.
This theory has quite solid foundations, it explains some peculiarities of these climatic changes, for example the speed of the increase in temperatures decidedly unusual compared to the changes that occurred in the past.
It is, however, precisely a theory which, although it is decidedly the best to explain the change we are experiencing, is not a fact [9].
Propose it as if it were a fact that harms the credibility of science and places side by side with easy criticisms, even if often superficial and interested.
A pragmatic approach would be decidedly more useful and less criticizable.
In fact, even if they are not the only factor and even if they are not the main factor determining global warming, human activities, such as the release of greenhouse gases, pollution of the seas and waters, etc. in any case, they would remain the only possible sector of intervention for humans on the phenomenon of climate change.
Only on this aspect can we intervene and we must do it because global warming is a fact and the consequences for humanity are already tangible and catastrophic; although the human being has demonstrated very high adaptability, the speed of the climate changes taking place is such that putting a stop to the phenomenon as far as possible is a survival strategy of mankind rather than a political opinion or a theory scientific.

Riscaldamento globale
