Saba is a Native American place name meaning “the rock.”
Pronounced say-ba, Saba is the name of an island in the Caribbean.
It was initially inhabited by the Taino Indians before the Arawak tribe settled there around 800 A.D.
They named the island Siba, meaning “the rock,” likely because of the island’s small size and circular shape.
