The point of no return (PNR) is the point beyond which one must continue because turning back is dangerous, physically impossible or difficult, or prohibitively expensive.
It can be a calculated point during a continuous action (such as in aviation or maritime activities); or the instant just prior to performing an irreversible action (e.g., setting off an explosion or signing a contract).
