"Heads or Tails?"

In the late 16th century, these ancient gold coins, once labeled as "The Ultimate Blasphemy", were allegedly stolen from the Vatican's Archive of Ancient Treasures.
After 200 years of searching, the coins were never found and assumed to be lost forever.
But on August 28, 2022, confidential Vatican sources state, "We now have proof that a well known French family has secretly kept the coins in their private collection for generations.
And we are now calling on that family to discretely return what is rightfully ours. If so, all is forgiven and we will consider the matter closed. If they refuse, we will be forced to seek a very public legal solution ."
A day later,, a member of the Swiss Guard was handed a letter by a little girl that he thought was just another tourist. The envelope had a big, red "R" embossed wax seal and was addressed to the Pope.
It was a message from the head of the French family, a Mr. "R", and read:
"Sir, you may legally proceed with as much pomp and circumstance that you wish. But be advised, in addition to the gold coins, I also possess an official Bill of Sale from the Vatican.
It has a detailed description of the transaction, complete with a Pontiff 's Official Vatican Seal that was created by your 16th century predecessor."
The Vatican has yet to respond...
