"Codename: Ms. Sisu"
Ms. Sisu hails from Helsinki, Finland.
[Sisu is a Finnish concept described as stoic determination, tenacity of purpose, grit, bravery, and resilience. The Finns believe "Sisu" best expresses their national character. Note: There is no literal equivalent for "Sisu" in English (Wiki)]
Ms. Sisu, her family members and all her relatives - no matter how distant the relations, consider themselves proud Vikings of ancient noble lineage.
When she was a child, she was captivated by the stories of her ancestral Viking Warriors and the epic battles they fought in.
She also learned that Viking warfare was not a "males only" activity. In reality, it was "gender-agnostic" with fierce women warriors called 'Shield-Maidens" engaging the enemy and fighting alongside the men.
The stories always ended with a "Glorious Victory" or a "Glorious Death".
The lesson was not to glamorize war or condone the slaughter-fests, but to acknowledge the virtue of personal courage.
Her grandfather would say, "Always remember this, my little shield-maiden: Courage is not the same as Bravery. The brave man has little to no fear that may affect his decisions and actions. By contrast, the courageous man acknowledges his fear. He knows the risks, dangers and possible bad outcomes that could result from his actions. And in spite of all that, he decides to do it anyway."
Ms. Sisu never forgot that early life lesson from her grandfather.
It helped her make the necessary tough decisions during her eight years of active duty as the OIC of a Special Forces Unit in the Finnish military.
Now she brings that same personal philosophy, plus years of "in the field, real life" SpecWar experience with her as she executes her duties in billionaire Raymond Kohl's Personal Security Detail.
