The Ruby - The Fortune Teller

The first time I ever heard about the gemstone in those beautiful red rings inside the jewelry shop display case, the ruby, I was amazed at all the different types of beautiful ruby rings available - the ruby vintage ring, the ruby silver ring, the ruby ring natural etc.
All the pieces within ruby red fashion jewelry symbolize the many powers the ruby gemstone is said to possess.
Believers of the crystal arts say that the ruby represents the sun and promotes prosperity. It embodies passion and protection. Its fiery red appearance refused to be hidden; even under layers of clothing. It could boil water and melt candle wax.
If in jewelry, such as in a ruby silver ring or ruby pendant, the ruby guards against all afflictions.
There’s even a legend from Burma (now Myanmar) that says placing a ruby fragment beneath the skin makes that individual totally impervious to any harm whatsoever.
I could talk for hours about the litany of mystical powers that the ruby can wield, but the most fascinating ability for me is the ruby’s way of foretelling impending danger.
For example , if the gemstone in a ruby silver ring senses any imminent threats to its owner’s life or limb, the ruby acts as a foreteller of the danger to its owner and goes into its “early warning system mode” and starts displaying its warning signs. It does this by changing its color. Incoming dangerous situations, hostile people, rabid animals, natural disasters, etc., causes the ruby to gradually lose its vivid red color.
The once bright, passionate, almost arterial red gemstone of the ruby silver ring starts to fade; continuing to diminish while its owner is still in peril, and eventually becomes a weak, light pink-colored stone; a sad looking vestige of its former warrior guardian self. But when danger to its owner begins to subside, the ruby silver ring gemstone starts to regain its pigment; getting a little darker and darker as the owner’s situation improves.

When its owner is not in danger and all threats have been neutralized, the ruby signals this return to the safe status quo by displaying its glorious shade of crimson red again.
It’s like the ruby gemstone behaves as if it was alive; or like a personal Archangel bodyguard. Mainly due to the foreteller of danger myth, I decided to go ruby ring shopping.
I just had to have one of those beautiful and powerful ruby rings.
The problem was that I was totally without a clue on where to begin.
You see, at the time, I was like most of the general population: “gemology challenged”.
But after a little research and my friend’s tutelage, I became semi-literate in the language pertaining to ruby rings and the many other different designs, including the rare ruby ring natural, the high-end vintage silver ruby ring, and the uniquely designed marcasite ruby ring.
Marcasite gem material (iron pyrite) has a white to a brass, pale yellow color and shines brilliantly like polished steel.

The vintage red ruby ring has a whole subculture believing that it has the power of granting “Second Chances”; that is, to turn around a rejected marriage proposal. Currently, ruby red fashion jewelry has the chic appeal and old world beauty that makes it a top choice among customers from all generations and social strata.
Rubies and silver have been matched up for centuries because the combination of the two is considered exquisitely pleasing to the eye. The ruby silver ring has an air of nobility. The marcasite and ruby rings are a great visual combination of the ruby’s rich red color and the metallic sheen of the marcasite.

I didn’t know how to buy, or even where to buy, a ruby ring; so, back to my friend I went. He simply said that the best way for someone like me on a budget was to go online and enter search strings like “natural ruby ring for sale”, “marcasite ruby ring”, “ruby vintage ring” or “natural ruby ring ebay”.
The familiar shopping cart/checkout process went without a hitch...
