Though I am captive, bound within this clay,
My heart still seeks a love beyond the day.
You are the Beloved, the light of all,
The hand that opens every door when I fall.

My soul shall tear the veil of earthly dust,
And rise toward the heavens, carried by trust.
For you are the compass, the prayer of my soul,
The beginning of all, the end, the whole.

If you should lead me far beyond myself,
I shall not fear what waits beyond the veil.
For you are my journey, my purpose, my home,
The place where my restless spirit belongs.

And when the night conceals the face of the sun,
Your light shall remind me that darkness is none.
You rise from the silence, a flame in the night,
A lantern for hearts that have lost their light.

If weary and lonely I walk through the night,
You will be beside me, my shelter, my light.
No ocean can claim me, no shore can confine,
For waves of your love move endlessly through mine.

Whenever your name reaches deep in my heart,
A thousand dead hopes awaken and start.
Your name is the whisper that teaches me love,
A voice carried softly from earth to above.

And if all the earth should grow silent and cold,
If heaven grows distant and darkness takes hold,
Remain as the breath of the coming dawn,
The light in my soul when the night lingers on.

For you, I will journey beyond who I am,
Through valleys of sorrow, through fire and through flame.
Until I return to that beautiful street,
Where dreams and eternity finally meet.

With every breath, I shall whisper your name;
With every heartbeat, remember the flame.
You are the secret concealed in existence,
The quietest truth in my soul's remembrance.

And if this earth should imprison my soul,
My spirit will rise, refusing its role.
I came from the dust, but the dust is not me;
My heart has a home where the boundless are free.

If you take my hand, what remains to fear?
What storm could ever make darkness appear?
You are the refuge where weary hearts rest,
The harbor of souls that have wandered their best.

And if a thousand doors should close in my way,
Your love is the key that will open the day.
No lock can withstand what the heart understands;
No darkness survives when you reach out your hands.

I will not tremble before any storm,
For your love is the vessel that keeps me warm.
When oceans grow restless and skies disappear,
Your light will remain, and I will have no fear.

Even if heaven should fall to the ground,
Even if silence should swallow each sound,
Your love will endure when the whole world has gone,
And build from the ashes a world of its own.

How could I speak of the things in my heart,
When words lose their meaning before they can start?
My tongue may grow silent, my language may cease,
But love speaks the truth that my soul cannot piece.

You are the light, and I am but the dust,
Yet somehow your radiance has given me trust.
You are the soul of this infinite sphere,
And I am the wanderer who holds you so dear.

If ever you cast me away from your door,
I will turn back to you and return once more.
For nowhere but you can this heart ever stay;
Your path is the road I shall follow always.

And if I grow old in the longing for you,
Let years pass like rivers beneath skies of blue.
For love makes the ancient heart youthful again,
And turns every sorrow to beauty and rain.

So hear my last words, if you listen tonight:
Remain in my heart, my eternal light.
Remain as the world that I carry within,
The beginning of love, where all things begin.

And if one day I depart from this earthly shore,
Let your name be the final thing I adore.
Let it be my last breath, my final refrain—
The name that I carry beyond life and pain.

For after this life, I desire no more;
No treasure, no kingdom, no distant shore.
Remain in my breath when my journey is done—
My everlasting light, my beloved, my One.
