Having read at least some of the Abrahamic bible (only Genesis and Exodus so far, which is quite an undertaking in of itself) and having seen all the horrific and horrendous shit that Yahweh/Yehowah gets up to (as well as condones his "chosen people" doing) in only the first two chapters, I have come to the conclusion that both Dan Barker and Richard Dawkins are right in their assessment that the god of the Hebrews is "the most horrible character in all fiction". It therefore baffles me how the faithful can state their bogus opinions that "God is good/great/loving" as if those are irrefutable facts on the same level as "the Earth is a geoid" and "Evolution is true" (the latter two being ones that they often refute), but fail to provide any supporting evidence. ("It's in the Bible" is not a good/sufficient endorsement of a stance, since that work of fiction cites no sources other than itself.) It's abundantly clear to me that logic and reason are definitely not the forté of that crowd (which is one of the reasons I refuse to take seriously the intellectual capacity or integrity of anyone whom professes to be a believer).
If Yahweh/Yehowah is anything, it is fear and jealousy. He very much wants his followers to be afraid of him and not do anything that makes him jealous. As brother Maynard James Keenan tells us, "There's no love in fear!"

I sincerely hope that if I ever take religion seriously (as anything other than a pernicious force for perpetuating evil and something to rebuke and revile), someone will be sure to check my mental health and brain function, because either I've completely lost my mind or have some other dire affliction of the brain that needs medical intervention.
